MEZZANINE RESTAURANT at Sanur

The menu at Mezzanine plays host to seemingly endless variety of cuisines from Thailand, Japan, and the West, not to mention a teppanyaki grill thrown into the mix for good measure.

First up is a trip to France for the Pan Fried Duck Foie Gras served on short grain rice with honey and soy, an interesting and bold combination for a starter.  For those with more restrained tastes there is a selection of well prepared sushi and sashimi to order a la carte.

Main courses are as varied in choice as the starters with the Slow Roasted Rack of Lamb with miso and blue cheese being a standout as is the Thai selection with size able, very fresh bowl of Thom Yam  Goong, prepared by Mezzanine's residence Thai chef.  Dessert is a treat at Mezzanine a very simple Toblerone Chocolate Mousse one of the least fussy, but most rewarding sweets available on the island, is the house specially and a must for those with a weakness for the rich chocolate puddings.

Whatever the dinners' cullinary predilections there's something to satisfy every palate when dining at Mezzanine.

ARENA

Without prior intelligence Arena is a hard place to stumble across; situated right next to Mc Donald on the Sanur bypass it's not the beach dinning scene that visitors demand.

The cavernous, pub-like interior plays home to an extremely well stocked bar (an expatriate demand), extensive wine cellar with selections primarily from Chile and Australia and two pages of the menu devoted to the joys of beer. Cuisine wise the menu successfully veers across several countries.

The most popular dish on the much imitated in Bali but rarely bettered Honey BAck Pork Ribs the real reason to darken the doors of Arena and without a shadow of a doubt some of the best ribs on the island, period.

If it's a quest for perfect steak then guests will be well rewarded with the generous portion of fillet, supremely roasted on the volcanic grill served with a choice of sauces.

A great spot for some home-cooked soul food visited frequently by some of Bali's most revered chefs.
